Accessibility
Challenge Works is committed to providing a website that as many people as possible can easily use.
We are working hard to ensure that we improve the accessibility of our site and taking steps to ensure that it complies with World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. We’ve been working on a number of improvements to ensure our site conforms to a AA standard of accessibility. This means that users should be able to do the following:
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
We’re also taking steps to ensure all decorative images are ignored by screen readers while images that convey information are accompanied by a detailed description, we provide captions and transcripts for our video and audio content and that link text accurately describes the page it points to.
We know that some parts of the website are not fully accessible yet. For example:
- some PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- Some older video content does not have captions or transcripts
- Some bespoke features on the site such as data visualisations are not navigable by a keyboard alone.
Our work to improve the accessibility of our website is a continuous process.
