The Aqualunar Challenge Final Report

We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Aqualunar Challenge have now been awarded.
The Aqualunar Challenge is a £1.2m international challenge prize focused on making human habitation in space possible by finding ways to purify water buried beneath the Moon’s surface. It set innovators the task of inventing technologies suitable for use on the Moon, to purify the water ice found in the lunar soil.
Two runners-up and one grand prize winner were announced on 27th March 2025 – receiving a combined total of £300,000 to take their innovations further.
