Meet the Afri-Plastics Strand 3 Finalists!

Meet the Strand 3 – Promoting Change – Finalists whose community-centered solutions are reducing or eliminating plastic usage across Sub-Saharan Africa.
As Finalists of the Afri-Plastics Challenge, they will be receiving capacity building support to help support in the development and validation of their solution, alongside a grant of £50,000.

Meeticks Africa
Bostwana
Meeticks Africa’s solution runs a 30-day challenge that aims to get users to gain knowledge on how their use of single-use plastics negatively affects the environment and contributes to marine-plastic waste.

Ensemble artistique et culturel WAKAT
Burkina Faso
The aim of WAKAT is to train communities on the harmful effects of plastic waste. Training will be delivered through workshops in communication, awareness raising and advocacy methods, based on drama and storytelling.

Catharina Natang’s solution aims to provide training to fashion designers on sustainable fashion and resource mobilisation and equip local designers to understand the subtle but massive presence of plastic-based fabrics in the fashion industry.

The Ye Zembil Melse campaign uses creative storytelling, digital campaigning with Ethiopian artists and public figures. They are developing a plastic-free guide to communicate the detrimental impact of plastic waste in Ethiopia.
